It snowed here last week. Or maybe it was the week before. It’s hard to remember as one day runs into another here. There are no real weekends to mark the days by so I often lose track. Anyway, it snowed one day.

Cider sat outside the milk room waiting for me and he got snowed on.

Emma came out of her tent and got snowed on.

The next morning was sunny again and all the snow had melted.

The 'boys' came and waited for me to finish milking and escort me back to the house.

After milking, I took the milk can into the house and strained the milk into jars. I then put them outside in the ice chest with ice water to quickly cool them. Then I tried to find room in the refrigerator for another 3 gallons of milk.

Then we all took a nap.

After a long and productive day, EmmaLou wanted to eat some dinner.

Bruno also wanted dinner.

Randy and I had an outrageously delicious dinner. Best I ever tasted. Much better than crackers.

And I discovered that if you use homemade butter to make sugar cookies, and cut them out with a heart shaped cookie cutter....

...they look like "butt-crack" cookies. If I knew any plumbers, I would make more to hang them on his tree. As it is, I guess we will just have to eat them.

  1. Just another day in Paradise. I would be more than happy to help you out with those cookies... and what are you going to do with all that milk!?

  2. I found a farm close by here that offers a cheese making class. Sadly, they canceled the one for this month. Can't wait for next month. Cute cookies!

If our Golden was darker I would have totally wanted to name him Cider, after your Cider of course. He is lighter though. He is 7 months old now, and I am training him to be a therapy dog.

  3. oh oh oh! I WANT to take the cheese class!!! Is it near Tahoe? How long is it?

  4. Goldens are awesome dogs. REALLY sweet! He'll make a great therapy dog. Cider hands me stuff and picks up what I drop...he also brings me the tv changer, blankets and pillows, and occasionally...well, actually more often than not...stuff i don't want.

  5. Hey~Sweety petey! Great blog! I love your pics and stories!

  6. I love seeing pics and reading about your dogs in particular. I have seen pics of dogs that look like border collies when you blog about the cowboys and ranch work. Do they belong to the individuals or the ranch? It incredible how smart and intuitive working breed dogs are.

  7. There are 6 Border Collies belonging to various cowboys that work on the ranch. They are all personal dogs who work specifically for the cowboys who own them.

  8. LOL!!! Love the butt crack cookies!! Too cute.

Thanks for sharing the pics.... I sympathize with you on finding room in the fridge for milk......Had that problem too when I had two girls (goats) milking......Especially since my Alpine was topping 14lbs a day there for a lil while.

Love Cider too..... Had a golden like him when I was little, his name was Whiskey.....He picked up many of the mannerisms of the Great Danes we had, except he had a habbit of bringing us stuff all the time (typical retriever). My brothers & I taught him to get the ketchup bottle out of the fridge & would send him to do it while mom was busy in the kitchen......Drove her insane & she almost banished him from the house until we fessed up.... lol
